South Bay Bessie Album Cover.jpg
South Bay Bessie's Lakeside Lounge

A one-off illustration created for Bad Medicine (Cleveland, OH) to promote their new Tiki Tuesday series. The concept reimagined the local lake monster Bessie through the lens of vintage Japanese manga, tying into the bar’s moody, hi-fi listening-bar aesthetic.

my role & scope

Art direction, illustration, layout, and copywriting. Inspired by 1930s–40s Showa-era manga and retro vinyl sleeve design.

Bad Medicine

outcome

A playful, slightly surreal design that merges regional folklore with Japanese pop nostalgia. The result feels both familiar and unexpected. An image that belongs as much on a record sleeve as it does on a cocktail menu.

Mai Tai Mondays

A series of postcards created for Bar Miriam to promote their weekly Mai Tai Mondays. The goal was to capture 1930s–40s cocktail culture without slipping into modern tiki clichés.

my role & scope

Art direction and design of the full postcard series, including layout, copywriting, and composition. Used Midjourney for select retro imagery, then refined everything through illustration, typography, and color work.

Bar Miriam

outcome

Playful and nostalgic table cards that feel pulled from another era but fit seamlessly into a modern bar setting. The series balanced humor, warmth, and just the right amount of vintage charm.

Bar Taglio A-Frame

Part of a larger visual system created for Hitchcock Restaurant Group. Bar Taglio, a Roman-style pizzeria housed in a historic Art Deco building in downtown Seattle, called for design work that echoed its architectural charm.

my role & scope

Art direction and design for Bar Taglio and Hitchcock Café. Created menus, posters, A-frame signage, business cards, and packaging labels for take-home items.
